I also bought a pile of fantastic books for my classroom. I wasn't going to share the books on this blog, but I have to show one of them. Oliver Jeffers is a brilliant Irish author/illustrator. The Incredible Book Eating Boy is about a boy who starts devouring books and becomes really smart because everything he eats goes to his brain. Eventually, he starts getting sick and the facts become all jumbled. At this point, he starts reading books and the story has a happy ending. I love everything about this book. It's Tim Burton-esque to be sure.
The back cover actually has teeth chomp marks cut out. Nice touch.
Hope you had a fruitful thrifting day. I'm hoping for something good tomorrow.

I'll have to keep an eye out for that book for my classroom. My all time favorite book for children (and I occasionally bring it out of my personal collection at home to use in my classroom) is The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales by Jon Scieszska. I love those twisted fairy tales, and they're great for doing compare and contrast projects!
ReplyDeleteMissouri Michael - I didn't know that you're a teacher. What grade do you teach?
ReplyDeleteI love Scieszska too.

I teach Title I Reading, Kindergarten through 6th grade. Title I, here in the states, is a federally funded program that has teachers working with small groups of students who are below grade level to help them reach grade level. Our school offers Title I assistance in both Reading and Math.
ReplyDeleteLove the mug! I know you need more than that for your fix! Hopefully soon more great junk! The books sounds so good! Love the teeth marks.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comments, MM and Linda. The Title 1 program sounds good.
