Facial Workout - Laugh Out Loud!

My buddy Malene posted this on Stargazing (see link at right for more snarky Danish goodness). This clip is funny on so many levels: the hair, the leotard, the freakish facial contortions and growling. Makes Donna Mills seem understated. I'm going thrifting. Wish me luck.

So I Know I Can Yawn

I just can't get into So You Think You Can Dance Canada. There, I said it. I watched it on and off this season, but I never became hooked. There were some nice moments, but the whole affair was pretty dullsville. Watching Emanuel Sandhu hip hop dancing with broken bones was entertaining, but not enough to carry a whole dance competition. Let's be honest, SYTYCDC looks like the poor relations compared to its US counterpart. Even the costumes look like they were borrowed and returned to the Halloween costume section of Value Village. No disrespect to Value Village.

I've found the choreography lacking on SYTYCDC too - apart from Stacey Tookey's work. Luther Brown's hip hop choreography is way too down and dirty for Prime Time TV. Pushing the envelope with suggestive moves doesn't necessarily make for a better dance routine.

This past summer's season of the American So You Think You Can Dance was the worst season in its history. Even judge Nigel Lythgoe couldn't contain his anger at the sloppy choreography and lackluster dancing at times. There were some good moments, but nothing like what we've seen in the past.

As we await the new US SYTYCD, I thought I'd share two of my favourite dances from that show. Please let it be THIS good again.

First Neil and Sabra's sassy jazz number.

Next, Twitch and Katee's contemporary piece. I love Duffy's song and the fact that Mia Michels used Amy Winehouse as her inspiration. The audience just eats it up.

Mork and Misty

I am trying to catch up with Misty. I keep referring to the Thriftacular winner as "Mindy," by mistake. I have indeed emailed Misty and we'll see what's going on. It's late and I had a thrift-crap-tic experience today, which doesn't even bear repeating.

I shudder thinking back to all the hours I spent watching Mork and Mindy as a child. Is this not the worst intro to a show ever? It seems to go on for hours. I do like the old granny rocking out, however.
