Mid Century

Hello there. I love, love, love living in Dundas. We have an old community centre just heading out of town that houses frequent country auctions. I put in the winning bid recently on this amazing "egg" teak lamp. It's a lot bigger than it looks in the picture. Now we just need a teak credenza for this to sit on.
Close encounters of a teak kind
I met a really cool Pyrex collector in Hamilton via Kijiji (Canada's answer to Craig's List - but with much better layout) - named Kim. She figured out who I was through this here blog. Talk about a close knit thrifting community! She sold me this cool Barbed Wire divided dish. I've always wanted this pattern. Now I'm on the lookout for a clear divided dish lid.
I met another Pyrex lover through Kijiji who lives in Mississauga. She was kind enough to meet me at a GO train stop and sell me a few pieces, including Golden Hearts. Again, I need a lid, but the day will come. It's funny buying Pyrex in a parking lot in West-end Toronto, but at least I'm not buying crack in a drunken stupor.

Kim also sold me these lovely Butterprint casserole dishes which are on display with my other Butterprint bowls, etc.
Thanks Kim!

I'm a slightly off-beat Toronto-area teacher who enjoys writing and photography. I come from a family of collectors and now I'm dragging my own family around to yard sales. It's just a bit of fun. Enjoy the scenes.
