The source of my weird dream. Aren't all dreams weird?
Last night I had my first dream that was thrift-related. I guess garage sales have been on my mind lately. Either that or it was the Irish cheddar with Guinness that I ate before bed.
In my dream, I was at some sort of rambling flea market place. I don't remember many details. I walked past a woman who looked like an aging Yulia Tymoshenko - former Prime Minister of Ukraine.
So this woman was sitting amongst her wares when I see a collection of mugs I had bought at a yard sale in the summer. I told her that they belonged to me. She didn't want to argue, so she handed them over and I took them home.
When I got home, I went to my cupboard to put them away. It was then that I discovered the one mug I had bought at the yard sale. It did not come in a set. Yes, I had stolen cups from the blond Princess Leia.
Today I found the mug that sparked this dream. It's a cute little Pioneer Village souvenir cup that Duncan drinks his hot chocolate out of. It did not come in a set.
Have you ever had a thrift-related dream? If so, please share.
Thriftily yours,
Erin
Oh I think the Guinness and cheddar did it!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Linda..... :)
ReplyDeleteOh thanks. Thanks a whole lot! I guess I got tipsy on the cheese. LOL

Yes, I've had dreams of a similar nature, but in them, I'm discovering finds, like dreaming of a community dump that has an outbuilding where people can leave things they're getting rid of for others to take. I've read of such facilities but have never been to one. (in that dream, there was great stuff to be had!)I've also had dreams of going to thrift stores and finding great vintage linens and craft supplies.
ReplyDeleteFirst-time poster here - I enjoy your finds!
Thanks for the comment, Aimee. Y'all come back now!

Not that I can recall, but I do have to say that I have that exact same mug. I'm going to have to take a photo to put on my blog.
ReplyDeleteWhere did you get yours?
Hi Sir Thrift-A-Lot. I had to go back into the vaults of TYSS to remember where I got it. On the May 23, 2009 post, you'll see the yard sale I found it at. I actually am on friendly terms with the couple who had this sale. They live on Mortimer Ave. and they have a cute bulldog, whose name I always forget. I think they charged me $4.00 for a whole monster pile of stuff. I may have said how much I paid on the original post.
ReplyDeleteWeird that you have it and that I had a freaky dream about it. Do you thrift in the east end?
Erin
Upon closer inspection it turns out my mug is just quite similar. Another Upper Canada Village mug. I posted a photo of mine on my blog.
ReplyDeleteI do thrift in the east end. I tend to find better items in the east end than on the west end. The Goodwill at Sherbourne & Bloor I have had great luck at... but I used to go there 5-6 times a week since I lived 5 minutes away.
I`m hoping to attend some church sales this spring, but have such a hard time finding out where they are. Same goes for yard sales.
